In the month of January, God is showing up in the mundane. You don’t need to wait for a church service to encounter God. Position your heart to respond to His whispers and subtle movements…it’s time to cultivate a deep intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Consecrate yourself afresh unto the Lord. There is an invitation for seeking His face with intentionality. God is releasing fresh wisdom from His heart for a new season. So lean in.
Meeting God in the Mundane
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me.
To a nation that did not call on my name,
I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’
Isaiah 65:1
Have you ever felt like, in order to encounter God, you have to set up everything up just right for connection? For example: you need to be in a worship service or have the perfect curated devotional time or to be touched by a minister in prayer? Social media might make you think you need coffee, a candle, and a cozy blanket...but God is unlimited and He is always reaching for connection. God wants to meet you in your day to day life. He’s not hiding in a church building. Rather, He wants to show up to meet you where you are.
When I was in ministry school, I had a pastor, Angela West, who shared how God encountered her when she was a busy mom of young children. She said, “God met me between the washer and the dryer.” This phrase has always stuck with me. When you invite the Lord into your life, the most ordinary and mundane of moments can become sacred. I have often encountered God doing the dishes, going on walks, driving in the car, or folding laundry etc. The mundane is no hindrance for His voice. In fact, the mundane is often exactly where God wants to meet you.
When you invite God to meet you in your day to day, He will! If you’ve been bogged down by busyness and are longing for a fresh connection, ask God to make your heart sensitive to His Presence in the middle of the ordinary. Position your heart to hear Him and give Him your everyday moments. Even if you only have 30 seconds to praise His name, praise His name for 30 seconds! God wants to meet you in everything.
Move When He Moves
My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.
Psalm 27:8
Many years ago, I prayed a somewhat unique prayer. My prayer was this, “God, I want to be so sensitive to your Spirit that I can feel when you move.” When you are walking side by side with someone, they don’t have to tell you to turn left or right, you can simply sense which way they are moving. I imagined walking with God arm-in-arm and feeling His every move. It has been my prayer for years to become so sensitive to the Holy Spirit that He doesn’t need to say anything, I simply move when He moves.
God is inviting His people into a deeper level of connection and intimacy with Him. For many years, I lived desperately dependent on a word from God, afraid of making choices unless I had an exact word from Him. God absolutely wants to speak to us and give us words for our season, instruction for our lives, and wisdom for what’s next. However, there is a level of maturity that comes from drawing close enough to Him so you can sense where He’s leading without needing to hear an exact word from Him in order to move. Rather, you know His Word, you know His character, and you are walking in close connection with Him.
God is teaching people to operate out of deeper levels of intimacy with Him. He is moving people out of immaturity and into maturity. This means that the way you have operated with God could be changing. Sometimes, God will stop speaking in the way you are familiar with in order to teach you a new way to recognize His leading. It can be uncomfortable when God stops speaking in the way you’re familiar with, but it’s important to mature in how you operate with Him. He is leading you in a new way–lean into the newness. Ask God for how to position your heart for this new season and how to recognize the seasons of how He’s leading you.
Consecrated unto God
"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”
Isaiah 58:6
Right now, there is an invitation for many of you to set yourself apart to intentionally seek the heart and face of God. For many, this month will be a month of prayer, fasting, and consecration. Sometimes God will give you a season of slowness and consecration before He asks you to run or takes you into a busy season. In seasons of consecration, you are often storing up oil in the spirit. A few months ago, God asked me to fast and pray right before moving. The timing was inconvenient, but I knew He was inviting me into an intentional season of seeking His face right before transitioning. And then life got hectic and I was so grateful I had taken the time to slow down and pray!
For many, God will be inviting you into a set apart time of consecration in order to pray into the next season. Your prayers might not be for today but for a future breakthrough. There are seasons where we offer God a sacrifice of something costly in order to realign with His heart and pursue Him on a deeper level even if we don’t see an immediate breakthrough. In addition, seasons of fasting can look different. God could ask you to give up food, a type of food, social media, tv, etc. Ask God what setting yourself apart to seek Him looks like for you.
Wisdom Sets us Apart
She said to the king, “The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true.
1 Kings 10:6
In the Old Testament, the Queen of Sheba heard of King Solomon’s wisdom. She traveled far to see it for herself. Scripture says she was overwhelmed and in awe of how he ran his kingdom: “the palace he had built, the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he made.” (1 Kings 10:4-5).
She was moved by the details she saw. Wisdom shows up in the details. When we seek the heart of God, He gives us supernatural wisdom that impacts every area of our lives–including the small details. No detail is too small for the wisdom of God to touch.
If you’ve been put in a position of leadership and feel unequipped, ask God for wisdom. If you are facing unfamiliar obstacles, ask God for wisdom. If you want to grow, ask God for wisdom. No area of your life is too small to be touched by the wisdom of God. Come to Him in humility and seek His heart of wisdom. He wants to give it to you! Moreover, wisdom isn’t for you alone. It’s to impact those around you for better. God wants to pour out His wisdom on hearts that are hungry for wisdom and truth. James says that if you ask for wisdom, God gives generously without finding fault. So come to Him and seek His face and ask Him for wisdom and He will give it to you!
At The Crowning Jewels, it's our desire and our mission to bring encouragement, to build others up, and to bring comfort to people’s lives (1 Corinthians 14.3). Each month, our founder, Anne Jackson, and our main writer, Katelyn Alexander ask the Lord what He’s doing in the coming month and for any words of encouragement He might have for His people. We believe that prophetic words need to be encouraging and edifying. Moreover, with a corporate prophetic word, not all words are applicable to all people. If our words bless you, please take hold of them and apply them in your own life. If it’s not specific to you, please pass it on to someone else who might be blessed.
As always, the prophetic is a free gift from heaven and will always be something we freely share. As a prophetic business, it’s our mission to bring encouragement and edification to people through the free gift of prophecy, with our product being jewelry.
We at The Crowning Jewels believe in the absolute, transformational power of declarations. We know that truth comes by hearing (Romans 10.17), and speaking truth is an active way for us to renew our minds (Romans 12.2). We invite you to partner with what God is doing and say these declarations for the remainder of the month. We would love to hear what God does! Please email us your testimony at hello@thecrowningjewels.com.
